What types of porta potty can you rent?
Standard
Non-flushing, single occupancy, roughly 44 by 48 inches of floor area and about 92 inches tall, with a 60 to 70 gallon holding tank.
Deluxe flushable
A foot-pump flush and a freshwater tank, usually with an interior light and a larger mirror. Ordered for weddings and corporate events.
With a sink
A standard or deluxe shell with a handwash basin built in rather than a separate station. Common where food is served.
ADA accessible
A larger ground-level unit sized to take a wheelchair, with the 60 inch turning space required by section 304.3.1 and grab bars.
What happens after you book?
- Same day, placement is agreed. The operator needs the exact drop point, the surface it sits on, and whether a truck can get within about 25 feet.
- Within two business days, delivery. Charged with deodorizer and water, stocked with paper and sanitizer, and leveled.
- During the hire, service visits. A weekend event includes one visit; a monthly placement is serviced weekly.
- End of hire, collection. Pumped out and removed, with waste discharged at a licensed receiving site.
How many porta potties does OSHA require?

Where multiple single user portable toilet or bathing units are clustered at a single location, no more than 5 percent of the toilet units and bathing units at each cluster shall be required to comply with 603.

What do people get wrong when they book?
They order against the crew on site today. The OSHA table steps at 20. Eighteen workers needs one facility; twenty-two needs one toilet seat and one urinal per 40 workers. Crews grow, and the obligation grows with them.
They compare a rental price against a serviced rental price. The cheapest quote usually has fewer service visits in it. 1926.51(c)(4)(v) requires facilities to be maintained in a sanitary condition, so an unserviced unit is a citable condition rather than a saving.
They place the unit where the truck cannot reach it. A unit carried through a back gate onto soft ground looks fine on delivery day and becomes an extra charge on the first service visit.

Do I need a permit?
Not usually on private property. Placement on a sidewalk, street, park or other public right-of-way generally needs one from the local authority, and the issuing office differs by city.
What is the difference between a porta potty and a restroom trailer?
A porta potty is a single self-contained unit with a holding tank, set on the ground. A restroom trailer is a towed unit with multiple flushing stations, climate control and a power and water requirement.
